This is a video about “Tsam” mask-maker, GanNa. Not only is he an amazing craftsman, but he is one of the most active artists and curators working to spread Mongolian art and culture around the world. It was a real pleasure making this video. We spent the night in a ger (yurt) in Terelj National Park and woke up before sunrise to shoot the dance performance.
This is the first of a series of shorts I’ll be doing in Mongolia. After co-editing the film, “One Day on Earth,” I decided that Mongolia would be my next destination. Using the interective map at One Day on Earth, I contacted Tim Coursen, the main contributor from Mongolia and he enthusiastically helped arrange a bunch of shoots and even hosted me. The next bunch of videos wouldn’t be possible without his support.
I hope you all enjoy!
